Working with Video Files > Open Remote Video (EVS)

EVS enables professional video streaming directly inside EZTitles, allowing subtitle editors to work with video without downloading media files or using browser-based players. With EVS, video files remain encrypted and securely stored, and are accessible only to authorized users within the client’s environment.

This approach allows teams to collaborate on subtitle production while maintaining strict control over media access.

How EVS Works

EVS provides a secure pipeline that connects protected media storage to the EZTitles workstation. Video files are processed through the EVS Ingest application, where they can be prepared for production workflows. During this stage, the system can perform tasks such as:

▪Video transcoding

▪Shot change detection

▪Encryption using CENC AES-128 CTR

The encrypted media is then uploaded to secure cloud storage (such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage) where it remains inaccessible to the public.

Access to the media is controlled through EVS Access Control, which includes:

▪Role-based access permissions

▪Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

▪User-level media access policies

When authorized users open a project in EZTitles, the video is securely streamed directly into the application, allowing editors to work with frame-accurate playback.
