automate

your conversions

When it comes to conversion of different subtitle files, automation is the key word everyone is looking for. The idea is to produce the desired formats in bulks, with as little effort as possible and with the best result possible. No one can convert 10,000+ .pac files to .ttml manually and pay attention to the quality of the end result all by themselves. Well, EZConvert does exactly that.
Workflows and Watch Folders

The Workflows and the Watch Folder modules give you unprecedented control over the conversion process and enable simultaneous conversion into multiple output formats with all the different settings they may require.

The Watch Folder is EZConvert’s special tool that continuously monitors a folder for new files. When a new file arrives, it triggers the file's conversion into a format you have specified. It requires minimal configuration and once set up it will send you notifications via e-mail for each error logged.

Furthermore, EZConvert automatically recognizes the input file’s format and passes it to all Watch Folders assigned to the conversion of this particular format.

This is why EZConvert successfully covers even the most complex situations, as your file can be converted to either all the output formats defined by the Watch Folders or only to some of them.

The Watch Folder can monitor files on a network location and save the converted files to a network server as long as it has the necessary privileges.

Watch Folder as a Windows Service

The Watch Folder module can also be installed as a Windows Service so it will work regardless of whether or not you are logged in, which makes it perfect for running on servers and in some complex workflow setups.

EZConvert API

The command-line utility for EZConvert offers batch conversion of single or multiple files using wildcards for the file names. It can also be used in batch scripts, scheduled events etc. EZConvert can also be set to work as a Windows process in the background and provides a handy tool for easier configuration of conversions submitted through the Command Line called Config Editor.

It is so powerful that it actually works as an API for EZConvert and can be integrated into your Content Management System (MAM) if needed.

Quality Control

Whether you are running automated conversions via the Watch Folder or just using the GUI to convert a single file, you can now benefit from EZConvert’s extensive Quality Control Checks.

They will save you time and effort by indicating the most common errors found in subtitle files - inconsistent cues, reading speed and safe area problems, as well as use of illegal characters or inapplicable formatting styles/presentation controls. The Checks will inform you on any errors found.

If some issues need to be solved, you could make adjustments to the subtitles using the Recut and Fix options.

Digital Cinema

EZConvert can easily handle files for Digital Cinema. The tool supports the following image resolutions:

  • 1998 x 1080, 2K flat in 1.85 : 1 aspect ratio;
  • 2048 x 858, 2K scope in 2.39 : 1 aspect ratio;
  • 2048 x 1080, 2K full container in 1.90 : 1 aspect ratio;
  • 2048 x 858, 2K scope in 2.39 : 1 aspect ratio;
  • 3996 x 2160, 4K flat in 1.85 : 1 aspect ratio;
  • 4096 x 1716, 4K scope in 2.39 : 1 aspect ratio;
  • 4096 x 2160, 4K full container in 1.90 : 1 aspect ratio

EZConvert covers the full range of the DC subtitle specifications and supports ruby characters and vertical text. Subtitles containing ruby characters and vertical text can be exported and imported either as text or image-based subtitles for Digital Cinema.

Project Templates

Adjusting your project settings each time you convert a file can be fairly tedious. We have addressed that, and now you can save your project settings to a template to be able to reuse them later.

The conversion then takes just a few mouse clicks - open the Project Settings, select the appropriate template, load the file to EZConvert, and all the attributes like the safe area, fonts and presentation styles will automatically apply to your subtitle file.

For your convenience, all the templates can be arranged in groups according to your preferences - you can group them by the resolution of the output file, the target output format or in any other way you may find useful.
